This fine-grade lava grit (3–6mm) is one of the best materials you can add to your substrate mix to improve drainage, aeration, and overall root health. Its naturally porous structure allows water to pass through quickly while retaining just enough moisture and oxygen within the particles, creating an optimal environment for strong, healthy root systems.

Unlike standard gravels, lava grit is lightweight, breathable, and biologically stable, meaning it won’t break down over time or compact your soil. It’s particularly well suited to Lophophora, Trichocereus, and other rot-sensitive species where airflow around the roots is critical.
