Myrtillocactus geometrizans is a fast-growing, tree-forming cactus native to central Mexico, best known for its glaucous blue-green skin and strongly geometric growth. Over time it develops thick, upright columns with well-defined ribs, eventually branching to form a candelabra-like structure in habitat or large containers.

The cultivar ‘Glorp’ is a monstrose form, selected for its irregular, lumpy growth and exaggerated rib distortion. Instead of clean vertical columns, the plant produces uneven, knobbly segments with unpredictable swelling and twists. Growth can alternate between relatively normal sections and heavily monstrose areas, giving each plant a unique appearance that continues to evolve with age.

Spination is usually sparse to moderate, with short grey to brown spines emerging from widely spaced areoles. Colour remains the classic Myrtillocactus blue-green, often with a powdery bloom that’s especially strong in bright light.

Like the species, ‘Glorp’ is generally hardy and forgiving. It enjoys strong light, free-draining soil and a regular watering schedule during the growing season, with a dry winter rest. Growth is typically vigorous once established, especially compared to many other monstrose cacti.

This is a stable and well-known cultivar, popular both as a sculptural specimen and as a rootstock due to the natural vigour of Myrtillocactus geometrizans.
